Syracuse SCORE and branches in Madison and Cortland counties provide:

Free and confidential one-on-one business counseling and mentoring.

  • Full-day business workshops and seminars for a minimal fee.
  • Free on-line e-mail assistance.
---

What SCORE Counselors Do:

  • Provide initial face-to-face counseling at our offices or at a place convenient for you;
  • Travel to your place of business for an on-site review;
  • Match you with a business professional to meet your specific needs;
  • Establish a “team” of SCORE counselors to provide you with specialized assistance in a number of business areas.

SCORE counselors value your privacy -- all counseling is confidential. Business counseling relationships with SCORE can last for just one session, a few sessions or a number of months, based on your needs as a prospective or current business owner. You set the level of help you need, and let SCORE provide you with the assistance that will help you maximize your benefit from time with us.

---

What Can I Expect During My Initial Counseling Session?
The initial counseling session is an opportunity for you to provide your counselor with input on the specific assistance you need. Once your counselor has an understanding of the assistance you are looking for, he/she will provide you with advice on what to do next. If you and your counselor agree that additional sessions would be helpful, he/she will set up a future counseling session with you at a convenient place and time and give you an “assignment” to complete for the next session. If you are considering starting a business, the assignment will generally be to work on your business plan. If you are already in business, future meetings may be at your business location or at a place and time convenient for you, to follow up on an assignment or for additional information that is required.

How do I make an Appointment?

  1. Contact SCORE by telephone, e-mail or in person at one of our offices to make your appointment.
